Fast Food Restaurants Break Into the Coffee Market | welcome to ...

For those who enjoy coffee, the coffeehouse is a popular place to visit. With the current economy, some coffeehouses have had a tough time, especially with the emergence of fast food coffee. Specialty coffees offered in fast food joints have become one of the top restaurant trends recently. Restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King are jumping in to cash in on this trend.

This trend in fast food coffee began with certain doughnut shops starting to offer more options in coffee, from lattes, to frappes, to mochas, and more. Some of the fast food restaurants would begin to cash in on this trend as it proved successful for the doughnut shops.

McDonalds has always offered regular and decaf coffee. However, recently McDonalds came out with their line of McFrappes. Various other coffee beverages were added to their menu too. It was the McFrappe success that made them get involved in other coffee beverages. Peppermint mocha was even recently offered by McDonalds during the holidays.

The new restaurant trends in coffee aren?t just catching on with McDonalds. Burger King also followed in their footsteps, offering Seattle?s Best coffees within their restaurants. At Burger King you can order hold and cold beverages to give you your coffee fix.

Burger King isn?t the only fast food joint using Seattle?s Best coffee. Subway also decided to start serving this type of coffee as well. When they brought out their breakfast menu, the coffee was added to their menu.

With those who want to avoid the high priced beverages at coffeehouses, fast food coffees are a big hit. Some owners of coffeehouses fear going out of business as a result of these fast food coffee restaurant trends. Starbucks and other coffeehouses are having a difficult time financially, since many people are trying to get a coffee fix without spending so much money.

Just about every coffee drink you can think of today is offered at a fast food chain. Espresso is not being offered at fast food chains, but it could become a drink offered at some point. Coffeehouses may still be visited by those who consider themselves connoisseurs of coffee. Of course, for those who want to pay less for their coffee fix, the fast food restaurants offer a much lower price. It?s tough that these new coffee trends will only offer fast food chains a better standing in the market of specialty coffees.
